Did you see the full moon last night? It reminded me that while we humans may be challenged right now, the rest of the universe is going along as it always has. I find this reassuring. At the same time, I am seeing more of the moon than I intend to these days, as I have had some sleep disruptions. Are you getting enough sleep?
To be resilient, we need to get enough sleep. I’ve realized two things that I can change to get better rest right now. The first is that I’ve decided to not watch (or read) the news after around 8 o’clock at night or it affects my sleep. Instead of visions of sugarplums dancing through my head, I have statistics and curves and scary stuff. Not good.
Also, I’ve been going to bed later than usual since our Stay-at-Home order in North Carolina went into effect as if the Coronavirus constitutes a snow day and I am out of school tomorrow. Never mind that I am not a teacher and haven’t been to school in decades. So I have committed to going to bed earlier and honor my pre-Covid-19 rhythms.
We are all adjusting to this new way of being in the world. Things are changing at a rapid rate. Go easy on yourself. Get some rest. If you’re like me, maybe don’t scare yourself with the news as often as you have been doing. Maintain a healthy sleeping schedule.
Rest well tonight, my friends. Sweet dreams. Zzzz
Love,
Susan
