two chairs under a treeFeel blue? Touch green! I heard this phrase for the first time a few years ago. In case you haven’t heard it before, it’s a reminder that getting outside and being in nature relieves stress.

Dating back to the early civilizations in China, Greece and Persia, there is strong historical evidence that contact with nature, that being in landscapes with trees, water and other natural features, provides health benefits. In Europe, people used to recover and convalesce in monasteries because of their lovely courtyards and grounds.

But you don’t have to go to a National Park or a crowded city park. You can go out to your yard, your porch, or wherever you can see a bit of sky. Have you noticed how being outside helps your mood?

Do you have a place to go to “touch green”?
