I’ve decided to exercise my power as Master of the Universe (mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha) and proclaim today as official Hug A Writer Day. Writers don’t always know they’re appreciated as they struggle to get words on the page. Especially since writing is such a solitary endeavor (most of us are introverts) and we don’t always hear that we’re doing a good job or that our job is valued at all.
Those who honestly toil at the craft of writing need to know that you value their writing efforts, whether you like their writing or not, whether you have even read something they have written. An advanced, humane society needs its writers, as well as its artists and creative types. So you don’t have to be a writer to get a hug today. Hugs are good any day. At least if you like the people hugging you.
So let’s celebrate Hug a Writer Day!
P.S. I’ve also decided that EVERY DAY is Hug a Writer Day. That’s what you get to do if you are Master of the Universe.:)
