Encouraging each other matters. I am doing a daily resilience dispatch because I care about you, as you encourage people you care about. We are all in new territory. In fact, the entire world is on the same journey right now as we battle this beastly virus. It is a lot to wrap our heads around. In my lifetime, I have never heard and seen the word “unprecedented” used this much before.
Why write about resilience? For 25 years I have written novels that contain resilient and courageous characters (Old Sally, Wildflower, Ida Trueluck, etc). These characters go through rough situations and ultimately persevere with insight and hope.
Before I started writing novels, I was a psychotherapist in Charleston, SC. My own personal journey in life has required that I develop resilience and perseverance, as well as courage. More than ever, we need to be brave and resilient.
As was my intention, I have been posting something uplifting on this page and on my blog every day at 4 pm (Eastern) until we get through this crisis. I am grateful for your comments and participation. But even if you never say a word, I hope this tiny missive lightens your day for a moment and invites you to take a deep breath.
Your words of encouragement matter. What words of encouragement might you offer to the others who see this page?
Love,
Susan

I would offer the words of Fred Rogers, “Find the helpers”. There are countless people serving as helpers in many capacities, and we need to honor them (and pay them all the wages they deserve!)–and cherish the myriad of creative ways that we each can find to be of help to one another.
Well said, Helen. Thank you. I love the Fred Rogers quote. I am heartened by the creative ways that people are helping one another right now.
Stay well, my friend!
Susan
