Check out this Good Life Project! I think you’ll like it.
Are you living a good life? I ran across this “Living Creed” at www.dailygood.org and wanted to share it with you. There’s so much about this project that I love. For one thing, I love to think about how to have a good life, and I love that there is something that exists that is called a Good Life Project.
My favorite phrases are :
Life is a story. (Yes, of course you would expect that from me, right? I write novels! a.k.a. stories about life)
Presence, not presents. (I say this to my daughters every Christmas!)
Another favorite is: Be fierce with your time, but generous with your heart. I am learning fierceness these days.
And then finally, I love this line: Build a tribe, people matter. Thanks for being a part of my tribe!
What are your favorites? As always, I’d love to hear from you.

Hi Susan, I also loved this piece. My two favorites are “It’s more important to choose than to choose right. Also, “Love so deeply it cracks open the world. Every one of these projects speak to the heart. Thank you for sharing.
And yes, I love being a member of your tribe. Mary
One of mine: don’t *just* listen. Smell, feel, hear, touch, taste, remember. Writing isn’t just words. It’s smells, tastes, sounds, textures, everything. They all matter. Different people have smelled different things in their life, and there are things one person has smelled that another person never will. Same with heard, tasted, and felt. Think of that whenever you’re writing.
Hi Mary. “Love so deeply it cracks open the world…” Yes, isn’t that beautiful? It is guaranteed to crack open our world, at least.
You are an honored member of the tribe, Mary. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your favorites.:)
This is sound advice, John. I hope everyone in my fearless writing for women workshop reads your comment, because I was always talking about the importance of sensory details. Now they will know that it’s not just me who thinks this is a crucial element to writing a good story.
I love every word of it! Now if I can only live every word of it…
That’s the hard part, for sure, Barbara. But at least it’s an interesting challenge!?
Hi Susan !!!
These are all great quotes. The three that spoke to me the loudest were, 1. Build a tribe, People matter. 2. Love so deeply it cracks open the world, and 3. Lighten up… If you can’t laugh at yourself, others will happily do it for you. I can happily say that I am finally, living the good life!!! To me, it’s a state of mind, more than anything. Thanks for your continued blogs Susan. we need them.
Trélys
Hi Trelys,
I love those. I have often thought I needed to lighten up, too, but thankfully I love to laugh so that helps! Thanks for being another honored member of the tribe, as well! I’m so glad to hear that you are “finally living the good life”!
I loved this too. It speaks to my condition as the Quakers say. Liked the part about peace of mind. Hope all is going well–Spring is coming! Ann
Peace of mind is good. It also helps that spring is coming! Thanks for letting me know what you think. I always love hearing from you!!
