Have you seen this Dog and Cat Diary? If not, you’re in for a treat (pun intended). If you have dogs and cats, you just may recognize a few traits. If you don’t have dogs and cats, you may remember why you don’t.
Or if you just need a good laugh, this dog and cat diary might just do the trick. (Yep, another pun.)
In my household, we have two dogs and two cats –all rescues. At least one or two are in my office as I write. My dog, Jack, is the most loyal. My dog, Emma, is the most neurotic. As for the cats? Well, they’ve got their eye on me.
What about you? Do you have animals that accompany you while you create? Does this dog and cat diary ring true to you?
P.S. I’m not sure who to credit for this clever piece of prose. If you know the source, please leave the writer’s name in the comments section, and I’d be happy to credit them. (Thanks to my daughter, Krista, for sending me this.)
P.P.S. If you haven’t already, please consider checking out my new novel, The Secret Sense of Wildflower, (southern, historical, coming-of-age) given a starred review (“a book of remarkable merit”) by Kirkus Reviews and voted a Best Book of 2012. There is a cat in it named Pumpkin.

‘Tis why I’ve always, always loved cats. Subversive little beasties.
Subversive indeed, John. I don’t know what I’d without both species.
And from a couple of our lovely email subscribers:
“I love those diaries. I shared them on my facebook page. It’s so typical of the two species. My favourite cat’s entry is when it states that even though they let the dogs out, they always return to captivity. It is hilarious.
By the by, if you are of a mind to, please check out the soundcloud site. A have a demo of seven songs on it, that a good friend recorded for me in his studio. Soundcloud.com/trelys-dupre. So far I’ve received some pretty positive reponces to them from varous parts of the world. trelys ”
and:
“My cats are delighted to see that there is finally someone intelligent enough to understand and appreciate the burdens they bear in this crass world of instant gratification. J.”
