Did your mom or dad read books aloud to you when you were a kid? I loved reading stories to my daughters in the evenings. There is something very magical about hearing a story. It’s as if it allows more room for your imagination. Maybe you enjoy audio books as an adult, too. They are great for longer drives, commuting and working out, as well as just enjoying a good story while sitting on the porch swing as you listen.

I am delighted to announce that the audio book versions of both Temple Secrets and Grace, Grits and Ghosts: Southern Short Stories are now available on Audible and amazon.

I love to narrate my own books because it’s like reading aloud to my kids again. Except, in this instance, I’m reading aloud to my beloved readers. With these two books, I throw in a little southern accent for authenticity. I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and have lived in the southeast most of my life. Believe me, I’ve heard more than my fair share of southern accents. Some of them are delightful.

Around the time I went off to college, I was determined to give up my accent. Probably because I’d seen too many southern hicks portrayed on television. (Like there aren’t just as many red necks in other regions of the country?) My accent is still kind of a fluid thing. If I’m around other southerners with accents, my twang tends to join in the reunion.

Early reviews are hard to come by for most authors and are crucial for helping readers take a chance on a book by an author they don’t know.
