the weird writer

To be a little weird and make people talk may be a good thing, especially if you’re a writer or an artist. To me, it means you are living a creative life.

Do people think you are a little weird? I hope so.

The Secret Sense of Wildflower

”…astute observations and wonderfully turned phrases, with nary a cliché to be found. She could be an adolescent Scout Finch…A quietly powerful story, at times harrowing but ultimately a joy to read.

Love it! I’m going to try to be extra weird today.

No. People think I’m a lot weird.
Beethoven used to walk through the parks in Heiligenstadt talking to himself; mothers would tell their children to steer clear of the crazy, unkempt man. Virginia Woolf was taunted as she walked through the streets mumbling stories to herself. Stanley Kubrick talked to himself in funny voices. Van Gogh? Let’s not eve go there. Suffice it to say some of his acquaintances found his behavior eerie (pun intended).

So I guess I’m not that bad, compared to some.

May we all become as weird as Beethoven, Virgina Woolf and Van Gogh!

While studying at Oxford, Oscar Wilde would walk through the streets with a lobster on a leash.

Wow. That is wonderfully weird, Richard. It creates a great visual image.
Thanks for sharing it!

Mmmm…..he took his dinner with him. I respect that!

However, supposedly it’s a myth and supposedly it originates from this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A9rard_de_Nerval
