Latest Review of Seeking Sara Summers

by Susan Gabriel on December 10, 2009

The latest review of Seeking Sara Summers is from the National Women’s History Project blog.

Seeking Sara Summers is a delightful work of fiction that mirrors the very real struggles that women face in our day-to-day lives. The main character is a devoted wife and mother, who in the midst of a battle with breast cancer, begins to really seek the woman she wants to be. Her journey takes her to a place and a person, both integral parts of her youth. Though written in a modern-day setting, the story brings to mind the women of the second wave of feminism who were often faced with choosing between a domestic life and a hopeful, but unwritten future seeking fulfillment as new creatures of freedom. Seeking Sara Summers is a well-crafted tale of a personal journey that reflects both the joy and the anguish that can come with breaking through expectations and becoming our truest selves.

I love it! This kind of review makes all the struggle of being a writer seem worthwhile!
