Seeking Sara Summers is a delightful work of fiction that mirrors the very real struggles that women face in our day-to-day lives. The main character is a devoted wife and mother, who in the midst of a battle with breast cancer, begins to really seek the woman she wants to be. Her journey takes her to a place and a person, both integral parts of her youth. Though written in a modern-day setting, the story brings to mind the women of the second wave of feminism who were often faced with choosing between a domestic life and a hopeful, but unwritten future seeking fulfillment as new creatures of freedom. Seeking Sara Summers is a well-crafted tale of a personal journey that reflects both the joy and the anguish that can come with breaking through expectations and becoming our truest selves.
