I love the whole concept of excellence, which I think also includes those people who have no chance at metals but are going for their personal best. And of course if there's a good story attached to why they're there, or how they overcame adversity, I love that stuff, too. Nothing like a good story. But I am mystified by people who complain snowboarding "isn't a real sport" because it's "made up" (newsflash: all games are made up) or there isn't true athleticism (do they say that about the bobsled too?). Overall, though, the coverage is better than most of the awful material offered on television, and judging by the new shows they are plugging for the 10pm slot in place of Jay once the games are over, it's only going to get worse. (The Marriage Ref??? That'll last about a month.)
