Thanks for the link, Carrie. I hope everyone who stops by this post checks it out. Fauna-flora.org sounds like a great organization and that is amazing footage of the lynx. I love their ears!

Congrat's on GB winning the gold!!

We have lynx in Europe too, though I've never seen one (and not likely to!). They are the most endangered cat species on the planet! http://www.fauna-flora.org/eurasia_iberian_lynx.php

I would like to have watched more of the olympics, but haven't had time to watch much TV at all. Still, happy that our bobsleigh lady won a gold for GB.

Yep, I'm pretty hooked on the Olympics at this point. I love the whole concept of excellence, which I think also includes those people who have no chance at metals but are going for their personal best. And of course if there's a good story attached to why they're there, or how they overcame adversity, I love that stuff, too. Nothing like a good story.

I admit I have been watching most of the games and enjoying some of them, though I think there are too many competitions and too many events that are similar to each other. But I am mystified by people who complain snowboarding "isn't a real sport" because it's "made up" (newsflash: all games are made up) or there isn't true athleticism (do they say that about the bobsled too?). Overall, though, the coverage is better than most of the awful material offered on television, and judging by the new shows they are plugging for the 10pm slot in place of Jay once the games are over, it's only going to get worse. (The Marriage Ref??? That'll last about a month.)

I hadn't thought of it that way, Kathy, but I can see what you mean. I'd like to think that the animals are resilient and that they will have their territory back once the Olympics leaves. The lynx is such a beautiful animal....

This is a bit sad. It makes me think of all the animals that are being displaced by the Olympics.
